Etano Install Process

This wizard will guide you through the install process.

Step 1 - checking environment

  • PHP version higher than 4.4.0

Although Etano may run on older versions of PHP we consider this to be a security risk.
PHP 4.4.0 was released on 11-Jul-2005. If your host hasn't been able to update in such a long time you should move to another host.

  • Mysql support

Etano needs a MySql database to store all member information.

  • PHP Server API

If your PHP is configured as a CGI plug-in rather than an Apache module you may experience problems, as this configuration is not always working.

  • PHP mail() support

Your host must allow the use of the mail() function to send emails to your members. Note that your host must not limit the number of emails you can send per hour or day, otherwise some emails might not reach their destination.

  • PHP GD2 graphic library support

Etano needs the GD2 library to create thumbnails of photos and for other photo manipulation operations.

  • PHP GD2 FreeType support

If your server does not support the FreeType library you will not be able to use the captcha and photo watermark features.

  • Write support

In order for this installer to make changes to files and for the application to write the cache files, write support is needed.

  • 'cache2' folder 777 permissions

The 'cache2' folder must have 777 permissions.

  • 'tmp' folder 777 permissions

The 'tmp' folder must have 777 permissions.

  • 'tmp/admin' folder 777 permissions

The 'tmp/admin' folder must have 777 permissions
